Art flies: the market grows and attracts collectors and investors

Already last year, there was a sharp increase in interest and transactions in the art market and now just a few months of 2019 the confirmation that this sector is recovering is a certainty. It's not just about important works, as it had been in previous years, but also minor works as long as they are of quality.

Even the fairs, such as the most recent in Modena dedicated mainly to ancient art, recorded good results for exhibitors. Now we expect the response of Mastrich, with Tefaf on 16-24 March. Although its always been the most prestigious event in the world, this year we expect something even more. The exhibitors with illustrious names seem to have reserved for this occasion works that had been waiting for many years precisely to exhibit them in the moment of redemption for art, not exclusively contemporary, which seems and we hope has really arrived.

To underline the importance of the communication and information campaigns that the new means allow helping the promotion to reach every side of the planet and thus create expectations and competitions among new collectors.

And this is how new records go down in history, Monet's Palais Ducal (Sotheby's) – work already presented several months before the auction – reaches over 24 million Euros while Impressionist and Surrealism art closes the auction at Christie's for a total of 192,388,694 Euros.

Here are the top lots of this Christie's auction.

Paul Signac, Le Port au soleil couchant, Opus 236 (Saint-Tropez), €22,679,954

Gustave Caillebotte, Chemin Montant, €19,379,941

I more striking results are for CÉZANNE, MAGRITTE AND RENOIR:

Paul Cézanne, Nature morte de pêches et poires, €24.659.961

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Sentier dans le bois, €14,759,924

Rene Magritte, Le lieu commun, €21.359.949

Not the least:

Rene MagrittePain daily, € 3,920,764

Rene MagritteThe mysterious barricades, € 2,176,264

Records by artist

Paul SignacLe Port au soleil couchant, Opus 236 (Saint-Tropez), € 22,679,954

Other interesting results

In the meantime, other sectors and historical periods of art arouse curiosity, everything suggests that art has returned, opening the main door wide and being reconsidered a safe investment, but also the pleasure of enjoying a good that will always last over time.
