Shipowners: Intertanko, Paolo d'Amico appointed president

The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners has been the international association of independent tanker owners since 1970: for the first time it will be chaired by an Italian.

Shipowners: Intertanko, Paolo d'Amico appointed president

The 64-year-old Italian shipowner Paolo d'Amico, president of d'Amico Società di Navigazione SpA, has been appointed president of the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (Intertanko), an international association that has been the spokesperson for independent tanker owners since 1970 . With its 204 members from more than 40 countries, 3.976 tankers and 353 million dwt, Intertanko promotes healthy competition between players while ensuring that raw materials circulate in total safety and in compliance with international environmental standards.

I main objectives of the association are:

• develop and promote best practices in all sectors of the product tanker industry;
• have a positive and proactive influence with key stakeholders, harmonizing the voice of a united industry sector, including engaging with policy makers and decision makers;
• promote the liquid product transport industry, communicating its role, strategic importance and social value;
• provide key services to members, such as personalized advice and access to information, enabling contacts and communications both within the association and with maritime authorities, organizations and trade associations.
