Armani: "Anas will fire the corrupt and appear in court"

“We will fire the corrupt and we will appear in court. Let's take back our Anas”. This is the appeal that this morning the president of Anas, Gianni Vittorio Armani addressed personally, with an e-mail, to employees throughout Italy. The letter comes following the investigation by the Rome prosecutor's office conducted by the Guardia di Finanza which involved some officials and executives of Anas.

“The manager Anas Antonella Accroglianò – he tells the microphones of Radio 24 – I met the so-called Black Lady some time ago, I only met her once and she made a very bad impression on me. I included her in an external evaluation process (like all managers), in order to have elements to be able to remove inadequate people from a managerial point of view from the company and she was one of them. Based on corruptive events, I have fired the employees of Florence and I will also fire these from this latest investigation".

"Dear colleagues - opens the e-mail to employees - I am sure that in these hours you too, like me, have experienced a feeling of discouragement but also of anger and consternation". Armani, in thanking the Public Prosecutor's Office and ensuring "maximum collaboration and support to the magistrates and the police forces" writes how "Anas, for its part, will be inflexible towards corrupt employees and, as already happened after the events in Florence, once the documents of the judicial measures have been acquired, he will proceed to dismiss them immediately and without compensation, obviously following the procedures of the law. We will also appear in court as the offended party". And, recalling the most recent events, he underlines: "I am well aware that Anas is not the company of bribes and corruption, nor the company of collapsed viaducts and tunnels with weakened concrete" but "Anas nevertheless needs to turn the page on to the past and to clean up inside it”.

Armani announces “other news will be forthcoming soon” and then invites all employees “to collaborate in the ongoing cleaning up of our company, also using the whistleblowing tool. And he concludes: “Anas is a large Italian company that wrote the history of our country, building the road network and rebuilding it after the war. Important challenges await us in the coming years, such as financial autonomy, the prospect of leaving the perimeter of the public administration, the re-internalisation of core activities such as operation and planning, the resumption of several thousand km of roads sold with the Bassanini reform to the Regions and Provinces, the conclusion of the works on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway, the strengthening and enhancement of the main assets of our network. These epochal challenges require motivation, enthusiasm and commitment. Together we can do it. Together we can build the new Anas”.
