Festive air: the San Daniele Prosciutto food and wine festival that celebrates the link with the territory

From 30 June to 3 July talks, masterclasses, workshops, guided tours and activities dedicated to the promotion of Prosciutto di San Daniele. 31 companies belonging to the Consortium will open the doors of their factories with a rich program of workshops

Festive air: the San Daniele Prosciutto food and wine festival that celebrates the link with the territory

Food and wine stands, open ham factories, workshops, masterclasses, talks and guided tours, the city of San Daniele del Friuli, from 30 June to 3 July 2023, celebrates the solid bond that unites Prosciutto di San Daniele DOP with its territory of origin. Aria di Festa returns, in its original form, the kermesse promoted by the San Daniele Ham Consortium, which will enliven the city of San Daniele del Friuli.

Among talks, masterclasses, workshops, guided tours and activities dedicated to the promotion of Prosciutto di San Daniele regional excellences will meet culture, music and living welland, in a festive context that attracts tourists, food lovers and passionate gastronomes from every region of Italy and abroad to each edition.

31 companies belonging to the Consortium will open the doors of their establishments to food lovers

Among 31 companies belonging to the Consortium are different which, on the occasion of Aria di Festa, will open the doors of their factories to allow visitors to discover the places and production processes of Prosciutto di San Daniele. The proposed formulas will be different: companies open for guided tours, companies with guided tours and tastings or menus dedicated to San Daniele DOP and companies with guided tours, tastings and entertainment activities. The visitor will therefore have the opportunity to get to know even more closely how Prosciutto di San Daniele is born and to dialogue directly with the master ham makers.

The four days also provides a rich program of workshops, to get to know and taste Prosciutto di San Daniele in combination with regional white wines and beers, And masterclasses dedicated to cutting lessons and sensory analysis of Friulian DOP. Participants will therefore be offered the opportunity, also thanks to the contribution of technicians, teachers and experts, to savor, discover and explore the many aspects that revolve around the world of San Daniele.

They enrich the program i six thematic talks created with the editorial care of Il Gusto. These will be meetings, structured as a journey into the world of Prosciutto di San Daniele, through six specific keywords: land, work, emotions, environment, recipes and history. The meetings will involve illustrious guests and personalities who will bring their own contribution to build an engaging narrative and meet the public of the event.

As per tradition, also this year, the streets and the historic center of San Daniele del Friuli will be populated with food and wine standswhere it will be possible taste Prosciutto di San Daniele in combination with cheeses, fruit and bread products. A food and wine journey in which ham will be the protagonist of various menus and dishes: from sandwiches to focaccia to tagliolini alla San Daniele. The garden of Villa Seravallo will be the evocative context that will frame the picnics based on Prosciutto di San Daniele, while wine enthusiasts will be able to taste the local labels together with beers and San Daniele DOP in the Terrazza San Daniele, a space with a enchanting panoramic view of the Friuli hills.

Aria di Festa will be the ideal opportunity to discover and get to know the Friulian town, visit the historical-artistic wonders, such as the Guarneriana Library, and explore the surrounding area thanks to the numerous guided tours. This year's Aria di Festa program will meet the final stage of Folkest, the festival dedicated to emerging artists in the field of world music, which will conclude its itinerant journey in the city where it was born, San Daniele del Friuli. The city will thus become the stage for exhibitions, showcases and meetings that will project it into a new international perspective.

The 2023 format provides for the involvement of new partners able to support us in building a rich and complete schedule. The implementation of the entertainment will take place with six talks organized with Il Gusto, after the collaboration started last year in Bologna on the occasion of the event. There's more taste. During Aria di Festa, themes and topics related to Prosciutto di San Daniele will be addressed, with alternative interpretations and perspectives. On the musical front, we found ourselves in perfect harmony with Folkest, the music festival of quality emerging music».

«For educational activities, guided tours of the ham factory and workshops organized for Aria di Festa - adds the president of the Consortium Giuseppe Villani - we have offered the possibility, through the dedicated website, to book well in advance. We therefore made 1000 places available and in less than 48 hours over 40% of these had already been allocated. The Consortium is working to implement the activities and therefore give the opportunity to participate to as many people as possible».
