Argentina, Macri wins the legislative hands down

The president elected in 2015 strengthens his majority in Parliament by winning hands down in Buenos Aires and in 13 other districts of the country - Ko Kirchnerism.

The candidates of the government led by President Mauricio Macri win the legislative elections in Argentina. Argentines voted to renew a third of the senate (24 seats) and half (127) of the deputies. The results obtained by Macri's party, 'Cambiemos', and its allies are better than those of the primaries of last August 13th. According to the first official data, 'Macrismo' has prevailed in 14 electoral districts of the country, among others in the main provinces, for example Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Santa Fe, Mendoza, as well as in the city of Buenos Aires, the country's capital.

On the basis of these data, the power relations within the parliament will change: despite the results of these elections, 'Cambiemos' will not have its own quorum in the parliament, even if it manages to strengthen its positions. Macri will therefore be able to get a series of structural reforms approvedi who promised since the election campaign for the presidential elections won in 2015. The spotlights remain on the province of Buenos Aires, where the key politically electoral match took place between the candidate of 'Cambiemos', the former minister Esteban Bullrich, who – after 76% of the votes were counted – she obtained 42% of the preferences, compared to 36% for Cristina Kirchner, a result that marks a historic defeat both for the former 'president' and for Peronism
