Archivio RFO enters Archivissima (Festival of Archives) from 4 to 9 June

The 2021 theme will be: #generations. Natural bearers of disruptive (often revolutionary) impulses and a desire for change, all generations shape the culture of which they are an expression of themselves, intercepting ferments and new trends: of thought, of customs, of content production.

Archivio RFO enters Archivissima (Festival of Archives) from 4 to 9 June

Archivissima, the only festival dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of archival heritage, will take place from 4 to 9 June 2021 and La Notte degli Archivi on 4 June 2021, to end on the occasion of International Archives Day (9 June). In the wake of last year's great success, the two events are also confirmed in a digital version, in order to reach a greater number of people and guarantee an active presence for all entities, also in light of the persistence of possible limitations imposed on the events by the I live because of the pandemic.

The definition of #generations includes a world of nuances: thus, if the main meaning of the term is connected to the idea of birth, it expands to include everything that is capable of giving life, of being and of making people be, to extend further until it incorporates the idea of something that comes to light leaving a mark and perpetuating itself.

It is starting from this polysemy of meanings of the term #generations that Archivissima will bring the theme to life in the most diverse areas that the word has crossed over time and throughout its history: creative, biological, chronological, social, generative, psychoanalytic. #generations bring with them more questions than answers: What to save of what was before us? What to produce again? How to establish a connection and, above all, how to generate new life from what has been decided to keep? It is, to answer these questions, that archives enter the scene, at the same time spaces for custody and tools for keeping memory alive. Real bridges between eras, generations and contents, archives are in fact the precondition for the protection of history, the transmission of a distinctive heritage and the creation of new meanings.

The Night of the Archives
The key format of the festival will be like every year The Night of the Archives, which will take place on Friday 4 June in a hybrid form: in presence and on the web.

The evening will begin at 18.30, with the online publication of the site which will contain all the podcasts and videos recorded, to continue from 19: many archives, in fact, can be visited live in compliance with the COVID19 prevention regulations; others, on the other hand, can be discovered online thanks to the contents made available or to the live streaming events available on the event website.
New for 2021 will be the live evening from the Polo del '900 in Turin, hosted by journalist Diletta Parlangeli, who will trace a common thread among archives throughout Italy, between connections with the most awaited guests and interventions in the studio.

The registered archives are able to provide a very faithful social, cultural and economic cross-section of our country. The schedule can count on: 27 State archives, and many religious, banking, university, musical, theatrical, cinematographic, artistic, political, fashion, food and beverage, medicine and transport archives, just to name a few . 10 archival networks have also joined, including the Movement Archives Network which brings together 11 archives from all over Italy engaged in the study of social claims and the Gender, Generations, Feminisms Network which includes 5 archives dedicated to feminist issues. In the schedule of the Night of the Archives Matteo Caccia will be in live streaming with Barbara Costa of the Intesa Sanpaolo Historical Archive and will tell the stories taken from the digital exhibition Vite Through. Stories, documents, voices of Milanese Jews of the twentieth century, an initiative that traces the life of eight Milanese Jewish families over several generations. The close collaboration between the Archives of the CDEC Foundation, Intesa Sanpaolo and ASP Golgi Redaelli, with the precious contribution of other institutions belonging to the MilanoAttraverso network, has made it possible to integrate the individual sources to reconstruct the stories of these eight families.

Always in streaming connection, but with the Lavazza Museum, Espérance Hakuzwimana Ripanti, Fabio Geda, Matteo Pericoli and Michele Mariani will be the protagonists of Regeneration. A look at the world: from the Boom Economy to the New Humanity. The word re-generation refers to the relationship that is established between the brand and the public, made up not only of communication initiatives, but of the increasingly felt need on both sides to create and keep alive a dialogue, a comparison that it touches deep chords and – as never before today – is based on the sharing of values. Between questions, reflections and an intertwining with archival documents, the theme will be explored thanks to the guests. The evening will be introduced by Antonella Lavazza, member of the Board of Directors of Luigi Lavazza Spa, who presides over the Historical Archive, with a testimony of the commitments and objectives constantly renewed and achieved by the Lavazza generations. The writer Alessandro D'Avenia, on the other hand, in connection with Virginia Antonini of the Royal Mutua Museum will narrate the unpublished story The guardians of the fire; taking a cue from the origins of the Royal Mutual Insurance Company, born to protect against the flames of fires, the writer will solicit a reflection on another type of fire: that of creative inspiration, which must be carefully guarded so that it does not go out and illuminates the generations to come. come. The Night of the Archives will also involve the Ordine del Mauriziano Foundation and its Historical Archive. It will be the writer Alessandro Perissinotto who will lead the public to the discovery of a conservation institution of considerable historical importance, so much so that it is considered in Piedmont second only to the State Archives of Turin for the type and richness of the documentation present (papal bulls, parchments , Augustan papers, maps, cabrei, genealogical trees, etc.).
