Apple, here are the new MacBook Pro: first touchscreen tests

With the Touch Bar, a sort of mini screen through which the user can give quick commands to various applications, Apple introduces the first pinch of touchscreen on its computers – The new MacBook Pros are lighter and thinner, more powerful, have trackpads bigger, but they will cost significantly more.

Apple, here are the new MacBook Pro: first touchscreen tests

Slimmer models, a much larger trackpad, new hardware, and best of all, the touch Bar, an Oled strip that brings the first touchscreen touch to a Mac computer. These are the main novelties of the new ones MacBook Pro presented by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, the very latest, for now, generation of the best-selling computers from Cupertino.

But let's go in order. The first thing to say about its new MacBookPros is that they are thinner and lighter of the previous ones, so as to create an overlap between the 13-inch and the MacBook Air. The thickness has dropped to 14,9 mm for the 13-inch and the weight has dropped to 1.360 grams. Compared to the previous generation, it has 23% less volume. The 15-inch model, on the other hand, is 15,5 mm thick and weighs 1.800 grams.

Compared to the past, another of the most evident innovations is the trackpad, much larger than in the previous versions (+46% on the 13" and about double on the 15") and equipped with Force Touch, i.e. sensitive to pressure, with the "click" that is no longer mechanical, while the keyboard is made with a second generation butterfly mechanism.

A change not visible to the eye, but destined to change the performance of the new MacBookPro, is that of technical, which features Intel sixth-generation dual-core Core i5, dual-core Core i7 and quad-core Core i7 processors depending on the various versions. The 15” is equipped with a dedicated Radeon Pro graphics card, while the 13” comes with integrated Intel Graphics Iris (according to Apple up to twice as fast as before). The ports also change: no longer Magsafe or Usb Standard, but only Thunderbolt 3 Usb Type-C.

News also on the front of the Retina display, which supports a color range never seen on a MacBook and has 500 nits of brightness. As for the battery, however, Apple declares a range of 10 hours.

The most succulent innovation, however, is found above the keyboard and is the touch Bar, a sort of mini screen through which the user can give quick commands to the various applications, using both the system and apps such as Mail, Calendar and so on, and having access to internet browser favorites.

A pinch of touchscreen that lands on a Mac computer, without completely revolutionizing the system. With the Touch Bar, then, you can also use the Touch ID, already known to the owners of the most recent iPhones. With Touch ID, after registering your fingerprints, you can quickly unlock your Mac or switch user accounts and make payments with Apple Pay.

If all these innovations can be very fascinating, there is bad news, namely the price of the new MacBook Pro, much higher than in the past. The 13-inch "basic" model without Touch Bar and Touch Id costs 1.749 euros, but if you want to enjoy all the new features, you have to spend at least 2.099 euros for the 13″) or even 2.799 euros for the 15″. By choosing all the possible optionals, you can even go beyond the 5 thousand euro quota for the 15-inch.
