Apple advances on the autonomous car

Apple takes a significant step forward in the autonomous car project, which until now has remained top secret. The Cupertino-based company obtains permission from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to test the self-driving car, a project on which other big names in technology and the automotive sector are working, such as Google, Tesla, BMW, just to name a few . According to the Business Insider website, the permit is extended to three cars, Lexus RXs, and six drivers.

For some time, all kinds of rumors have been circulating about the Apple car, codenamed Project Titan. At first it seems that the company has employed about XNUMX engineers then, last September, there were rumors of a scrapping or scaling of the project. Perhaps more simply, Apple has given up on building a self-driving car and has concentrated on software 'made in Cupertino' to be applied to vehicles.

At the head of it all is Bob Mansfield, the instrumental figure behind the success of products such as the MacBook Air, iMac and iPad. Mansfield joined Apple in 1999 and was one of the most important figures Steve Jobs knew he could count on. He left the group in 2013 to work as a consultant, then was called back by Cupertino.
