Apple, forward to all “cloud”

At the company's annual meeting, Steve Jobs reaffirms the push towards the post-pc era. Apple's new network is called "iCloud". A universe made up of web and applications: all the big names in technology are now challenging each other.

Password: cloud computing. The direction of travel, which points towards the "cloud" (cloud) has long been known. The major players are heading there, from Google to Facebook. The principle is clear: to take users out of the PCs, which have dominated a quarter of a century, towards a world of services available online and accessible from all "smart" devices on the market today: mobile phones, tablets, laptops.

Here then is the "iCloud service", announced yesterday in San Francisco by Steve Jobs, which has not appeared in public since the presentation of the new version of the iPad three months ago. The service will be launched in a few months, in the autumn. It will allow Apple users to share music, photos and other materials in a circuit that will easily connect, wirelessly, the various Apple-branded devices: iPhone and iPad in primis.
