Apple, agreement with Ireland on tax evasion

The Californian giant had been accused by the European Union of not having paid taxes for 13 billion euros. From the first quarter of 2018 Dublin will start collecting taxes, one year after the deadline originally set by the European Commission.

The case exploded in August de 2016. The agreement found provides for the creation of a Guarantee fund, in which Apple will transfer about 13 billion euros (15,46 billion dollars).

The amount will be paid only when the European Court confirms the EU decision of August 2016, the one that requires Apple to pay.

The news was given by the Irish finance minister, Pascala Donohoe, shortly before the meeting with Margarethe Vestager, the EU competition commissioner.
