Now it's official: Apple lands in Naples, with an engineering pole built in the former Cirio warehouses of San Giovanni a Teduccio. In fact, a banner appeared on the Federico II university website with this inscription: “Ios Developer Academy will open in Naples”. “We are very happy to work with the University of Naples Federico II to launch the first iOS Developer Academy in Europe – he said Luca Maestri, CFO of Apple – Some of the most creative developers in the world come from Europe, and we are confident that this center will help the next generation acquire the necessary skills to be successful”.
It starts in October and the Campania Region announces 7 million in investments in the next three years for a thousand young people from the iOS development center: a thousand scholarships for students from Campania or from abroad. When fully operational, there will be 400 seats.
“The University of Naples Federico II (Naples, Italy) announced today that it will host the first iOS Developer Academy in Europe through a new partnership with Apple that will equip hundreds of students with hands-on skills and training on developing apps for the most innovative and vibrant digital ecosystem in the world. The iOS Developer Academy will officially open in October 2016 with over 200 students participating in the first year and many more to follow in subsequent years. This is Federico II's note: the students will participate in a nine-month course, designed and supported by Apple, with a dedicated facility at the new campus in San Giovanni a Teduccio. The facility includes labs and access to the latest Apple hardware and software products.

During the first semester, the courses will aim to improve and elevate students' skills in software development on iOS; during the second semester students will participate in courses on startup creation and app design, e they will collaborate with each other to create apps which may eventually make their way to the App Store.
