The Court of Cassation definitively confirmed the convictions for the trial on the attempted takeover of the BPI in Antonveneta.
On appeal, Antonio Fazio, former governor of the Bank of Italy, was sentenced to two and a half years, Ivano Sacchetti and Giovanni Consorte, former top management of Unipol, to one year and eight months, and Gianpiero Fiorani, former CEO of Banca Popolare Italiana , at one year.
Today the Attorney General of the Cassation had asked to cancel the sentences for territorial incompetence of the Court of Milan.
