Antitrust, Catricalà's latest annual report tomorrow in Montecitorio

After almost seven years at the head of the Authority, the president is about to leave office, probably to move to the Authority for public works – Tomorrow's speech will be the occasion for an overall assessment of the work done.

Antitrust, Catricalà's latest annual report tomorrow in Montecitorio

Finish straight for Antonio Catricalà, who after seven years is about to conclude his experience as president of the Antitrust. The natural expiry of his mandate would be in March 2012, but in all likelihood the handover will take place in August, when Catricalà could transfer to the Authority for public works. In any case, tomorrow morning in Montecitorio will be his last annual report at the helm of the Competition and Market Authority.

The traditional speech will give way to a more general reflection, an overall assessment of the work carried out from 2005 to today. According to expectations on the eve, Catricalà should concentrate above all on the risk that monopolies in local services will strengthen. Not only in the field of water, the management of which cannot be opened to the market after the last referendum, but also in other sectors such as energy and transport.
