Antitrust fines Telecom, Vodafone, Fastweb and Poste for incorrect practices

2015 ends with a shower of fines imposed by the Antitrust a Telecom Italia, Vodafone, Fastweb and Poste Italiane. The unfair commercial practice is the reason that led the Authority to impose sanctions on the four companies.

Specifically, the Authority for the market and competition sanctioned Telecom and Vodafone with a fine of 100 euros each, while for Fastweb the fine is 75 euros. The companies have implemented unfair commercial practices in telephone sales, the so-called teleselling, of landline and mobile telephony contracts.

A closing of the year, certainly not easy for Telecom which a few days ago had suffered another sanction from the Antitrust but, this time much more salty. In fact, on 23 December the Antitrust had imposed a total fine of 28 million euros on six companies, among which the name of Telecom Italia stood out. The companies in question, Telecom Italia, Alpitel, Ceit Impianti, Sielte, Sirti, Site and Valtellina, allegedly agreed contractual conditions capable of altering the incentives of the Olos and stakeholders, harming competition.

Closing the year with a bitter taste also for Poste Italiane which yesterday received from the Antitrust a notification of a fine of 540 thousand euros. 'Cost so expensive' is the advertisement on Poste Italiane smart booklet. According to the Antitrust, the advertising clearly highlights the gross yield of 1,5% but the messages "fail to specify that the remuneration of 1,5%, to which absolute and almost exclusive emphasis is given, is in reality recognized with important limitations and conditions”, reads the text of the Antitrust.
