Giochi Preziosi, Bimbo Store and Prénatal in the crosshairs ofAntitrust. The Competition and Market Authority, in fact, has launched an investigation into a merger in the sector of baby products.
At the center of the investigation is the operation that led to the acquisition of exclusive control of Bimbo Store by Giochi Preziosi and the subsequent establishment, by Giochi Preziosi and Artsana (to which the Prénatal brand is attributable), of a Newco in which the retail activities of Giochi Preziosi, Bimbo Store and Prénatal are conferred.
The points of sale, explains the Antitrust press release, which will be headed by the new company are shops specialized in the sale of the entire range of products for pregnant women, newborns and children in general (so-called baby stores). L'Authority intends to ascertain whether this transaction has created or strengthened a dominant position in the markets for the retail distribution of baby products in various Italian provinces. The investigation must be completed within 45 days.
