Antitrust: Bancomat, commissions reduced by 30%

The commission for ATM operations will drop from 0,10 to 0,07 euros, with a 30% cut. This is the main commitment made to the Antitrust by the Bancomat Consortium, which currently includes 594 subjects including banks, parent companies of banking groups and the most important national non-bank operators active in the supply of payment services.

The decision came at the end of an investigation launched by the Authority last February to ascertain any anti-competitive profiles that violate European regulations.

The other commitments undertaken by the Bancomat Consortium, on the other hand, mainly relate to the transparency front: the Consortium will commission the creation of a study on the "Merchant indifference test" to acquire the elements necessary to implement the principles of the European Commission, and will publish on its website internet the value of the commission applicable to the "Bill Payment" service.

The Antitrust has therefore closed the proceeding, even if it is still waiting, within the next 45 days, for the Bancomat Consortium to present a report in which it will illustrate the methods for implementing the commitments undertaken.
