Antitrust launches investigation into Borsa Italiana services

The Antitrust has announced the launch of an investigation to verify whether Borsa Italiana and BIt Market Services, companies belonging to the London Stock Exchange Group Holdings Italia group, have adopted abusive conduct in the supply of financial information services.

The Antitrust officials, after having carried out inspections in the offices of Piazza Affari, notified the start of the provision to the three companies.

At the basis of the investigation initiated by the Guarantor there are a series of reports presented by eClass, a company controlled by Class Editori Spa, active in the electronic publishing sector and also in the supply of financial information services. The Antitrust investigation aims to shed light on the clauses contained in the contracts for access to Borsa Italiana's financial data.

According to the Antitrust, these clauses "could favor the group's vendor, Bit Market Services, by requiring competing vendors, such as eClass, to provide detailed information relating to their customers". This, according to the Guarantor, "could be used by Bit Market Services to expand its clientele to the detriment of competing vendors".
