Preview: at the MA*Ga in Gallarate (VA) an exhibition with 180 works by impressionist masters

From 12 March to 5 September will be held at the MA*Ga in Gallarate the exhibition "Impressionists. At the origins of modernity” which will present 180 works of the major exponents of French and Italian painting of the second half of the nineteenth century, from Gericault to Courbet, from Manet to Renoir, from Monet to Cézanne to GauguinBoldini e DeNittis, coming from Italian and French public and private collections.

The review is curated by an international scientific committee, made up of Gilles Chazal, former director of the Petit Palais in Paris, Alessandro Castiglioni, Vittoria Broggini, Fiorella Minervino, Virginia Hill, Vincenzo Sanfo, under the direction of Emma Zanella and Sandrina Bandera, director and museum president. Realized with the support of the Municipality of Gallarate, Ricola, Lamberti SpA, Ciaccio Art Broker, Castaldi Lighting SpA, MMG Srl, the exhibition narrates the stylistic revolution implemented by the movement born in France at the end of the XNUMXth century, through a path that goes to the origins of the languages ​​and aesthetic issues that characterize contemporary visual culture.

The itinerary is divided into a series of themes dedicated to some central issues of Impressionism: the 'academy-realism' dialectic, the renewed attention to nature, the first images of modern life, up to the departure from the impressionist lesson towards a language symbolist.

The exhibition is accompanied by an important Nomos editions catalogue, with texts by Gilles Chazal, Sandrina Bandera, Paolo Castagnone, Fiorella Minervino, Virginia Hill, Vincenzo Sanfo and Emma Zanella.

Among the collateral initiatives, Saturday 20 March 2021, Will be held the concert for violin and piano dei Masters Bruno Canino and Alessandra Sonia Romano who will perform a program of music by authors of the Impressionist period.
