Ansaldo Sts: the control and operation systems for the M2 line of the metro were delivered to Ankara

Ansaldo Sts recently handed over to the highest Turkish authorities in Ankara the new M2 line of the city's underground, a project which calls for an investment of 124 million euro. The Italian company based in Genoa employs around 4 people worldwide, designs, supplies and installs equipment and systems for managing the line and train circulation. In just over a month, Ansaldo STS has added four new metro lines to its order portfolio, in different areas of the world.

Turkey, according to the company, is highly competitive in the transport sector. The largest groups in the sector worldwide are present in the country, which is why winning an order in Turkey represents a strong dream of appreciation for Ansaldo Sts products.

The M2 line, 16,5 kilometers long with 12 stations, is part of the Ankara metro network modernization project. The contract provides that Ansaldo STS will provide the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the new signaling systems and subsystems with which the new M2, M3, M4 and the respective fleet of trains will have to be built.

Ansaldo Sts recently celebrated the first anniversary of the completion of the design operations of the first driverless metro system, which is based on an automatic technology that resembles the one used in Copenhagen since 2002. It also dates back to a few days ago inauguration of the new section of the M5 Lilac line in Milan which reaches the Garibaldi station. Having designed, supplied and installed the internal line control, Ansaldo Sts is among the leaders of the new light metro in Milan. The main feature of the driveless system is the fully automatic control of the subway through a central system that allows you to supervise all operations.

As regards the future, Ansaldo Sts is working on the red line in Stockholm, Taipei and Raid, while in Italy work is continuing on line C in Rome.

The reference shareholder of Ansaldo Sts, listed on the Star segment of the Milan Stock Exchange, is Finmeccanica which holds 40% of its share capital.
