The acquisition of Ansaldo Energia by the Italian Strategic Fund does not violate European competition rules. This was established by the EU Commission, which in this way paves the way for the passage of the energy producer under the control of the Cassa depositi e prestiti.
The clearance from the Commission should allow the closing of the transaction which took place at the beginning of October to be completed by the end of the year, allowing the outgoing parent company Finmeccanica to account for the sale of Ansaldo Energia in the 2013 financial statements.
