We have received and are publishing the following joint press release from Italian Tech Alliance e InnovUp:
Italian Tech Alliance, the Italian association of venture capital, investors in innovation and innovative Italian startups and SMEs and InnovUp, the non-profit association that brings together and represents the Italian innovation supply chain – Startups, Scaleups, innovative SMEs, Innovation Centers, Enablers and Corporates – congratulate Agostino Scornajenchi for the appointment as CEO of Snam, and thank him for the work done in the eighteen months at the helm of CDP Venture Capital.
The Associations hope that the choice of his successor will be made promptly, in the spirit of continuity and valorizing professionals with proven experience in the sector, so as to guarantee stability and strategic vision to a sector that is crucial for the growth of the Italian economy.
“Italian Tech Alliance thanks Agostino Scornajenchi and wishes him the best, comments Francesco Cerruti, General Manager of Italian Tech Alliance, The expectation at this point is that decisions will be made shortly on the appointment of the new CEO of CDP Venture Capital, in order to ensure continuity with the work done in recent years, and above all that the choice of the new CEO is oriented towards a figure who already knows the sector and its peculiarities. This aspect is particularly important considering how the changeover is actually taking place halfway through a crucial mandate for the institution and for the entire innovation ecosystem, whose central role for the development of the country is unanimously recognized. What must be avoided first and foremost is the recurrence of the factual block of activities that we witnessed in the months preceding the appointment of Scornajenchi. We also believe that the medium-term objective is to align with the best practices of entities similar to CDP Venture Capital in other European countries, in which the management remains unchanged for several years, in a dynamic that naturally allows the creation of greater harmony with the timing of the market”.
“On behalf of the InnovUp Board and the entire Association, I would like to express sincere thanks to the outgoing CEO Agostino Scornajenchi for the work carried out since September 2023 at the helm of CDP Venture Capital” says Chiara Petrioli, President of InnovUp. “His commitment, together with that of the Board of Directors, has contributed significantly to the strengthening of the Italian venture capital market, which has reached investments equal to 1,9 billion euros, consolidating a path of growth and credibility. However, the road to competing at an international level is still long. In this moment of transition, it is essential that the new leadership be identified in the name of continuity and competence. The Italian innovation ecosystem today needs solidity, vision and timeliness more than ever. We hope that the new leadership will enhance what has been built, also thanks to a deep knowledge of the entrepreneurial fabric that CDP Venture Capital has helped to support and develop. InnovUp confirms its full availability for dialogue and collaboration with the future governance, in the belief that a shared approach, based on trust and competence, can further strengthen the role of venture capital as a strategic lever for the country's competitiveness. Together we can continue to grow a dynamic, inclusive innovation chain capable of generating value for the national economy.”
The two Associations will continue to ensure maximum collaboration with CDP Venture Capital, with the common goal of contributing in the years to come to the acceleration of the development of innovative Italian companies, thus contributing in a tangible way to the growth of the Italian economy.
