The thread that binds Rome to Mumbai is still fragile, but it is getting stronger. The latest report by the Bnl research service highlights how India, while still absorbing only 1% of Italian exports, may prove to be an increasingly important partner for our country in the coming years.
The trend has seen a real surge in recent months, considering that between January and August Italian sales towards India they are increased by 21,3% on an annual basis, against 16,5% of all non-EU countries. They are present in the Asian sub-continent 205 companies under Italian control, employing a total of 24.441 workers.
In any case, the margins for improvement are really wide: "The Italian presence in investments in India - underlines the Bank's report - is still very modest".
