More bombs on Gaza, over 500 dead

The death toll in Gaza continues to rise, while the Israeli offensive shows no signs of stopping. In fact, the number of Palestinian dead has risen to over 500, while 13 Israelis have died and over three thousand have been injured. Also today, a small Israeli missile hit ithe third floor of the hospital of the Martyrs of al Aqsa in Deir al Balah, causing at least 15 injuries.

Meanwhile, while the number of displaced people exceeds 80, US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in the Middle East (specifically in Cairo) to hold some meetings on the situation in the Strip. "We believe - said a spokeswoman for Kerry - that there should be a ceasefire as soon as possible", reiterating the statements of President Barack Obama.

The UN Security Council, which met last night in New York and issued an appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities, also followed the same line. In both cases, a return to the agreement established in November 2012 between Israel and Hamas is called for.

However, the words of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu distanced the possibility of a diplomatic agreement: “We will complete the mission. We will restore peace to southern and central Israel. We didn't choose to join this campaign, it was forced upon us."
