A bridge, number 167, collapsed on the A14 motorway at km 235+800, near Camerano (Ancona), between Loreto and Ancona Sud.
The collapse caused two deaths and two injuries. The victims, husband and wife residing in the Teramo area, were on board a car passing under the bridge, while the injured are two workers from Delabech, the company that carried out the work. The injury was allegedly caused by the collapse of the overpass. Admitted to the Ancona hospital, they would not be in serious condition.
According to information provided by Autostrade per l'Italia, the bridge was a temporary structure positioned to support the overpass closed to traffic. The collapse occurred as part of the works to widen the A14 to three lanes. The motorway is closed to traffic in the affected section in both directions.
