A man attacked several customers armed with a knife at a Hamburg market. The death toll is one dead and several injured.
The shopping center belongs to the Edeka-Markt chain, in the Barmbek district. The police were alerted by some witnesses and called in a special anti-terrorism unit.
According to local newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt, the man attacked customers after an attempted armed robbery. He was arrested about thirty minutes after attempting to escape.
The Hamburg authorities have issued a terrorism alert after the stabbing that took place in a supermarket of the well-known Edeka chain. The search for a possible accomplice has also begun.
However, the police specified on Twitter that the causes of the act and the precise number of injured are not known.
According to reports from the German newspaper "Bild", the attacker shouted "Allah akbar".
