Environment, the French group Roullier invests in Italy

The French, who have 78 plants worldwide, will strengthen their presence in agro-industry and fertilizers in Lombardy and Puglia

There are those who want to go and there are those who come. Italian and French industries, when they can. under certain conditions, they are not too subtle. At stake are investments, business and jobs. So while the match between Fincantieri and STX is being played, the Roullier Group comes from France, without delay, to Italy. In reality it has more solid roots. After successes and certifications in the environmental field, it has decided to strengthen its presence in the agro-industry and fertilizers, where it is already a leader. With a turnover of 3 billion euros and 8.000 employees, the French multinational is currently launching a new holding company for our market.

A positive challenge that somehow obscures the controversies on other fronts and substantiates the collaboration between the two countries in the environmental, food and research fields. The holding company “Groupe Roullier Zone Italie” is born. It was born for Italy and undertakes to expand the activities in the two factories of Ripalta Arpina near Cremona and Barletta in Puglia. For the Apulian plant, the Group also intends to leverage a southern vocation of its activities. A positive sign for Puglia and the agricultural sector of Southern Italy which according to the managing director of Roullier Zone Italie – Pierluigi Sassi – should register the best performances. We will see.

But comfort is given by the announcement of the consolidation of 300 employees in both of our factories. In 25 years, the brands of the Roullier group – Timac Agro, Timazootec, Fertimore, Interaliment – have achieved significant levels of productivity and efficiency. The management is accredited for good operational collaboration and a work environment with high quality indexes. In 2016 and again this year, Timac Agro Italia received the "Best Workplace" award for the best work environment. A recognition shared with companies of the caliber of American Express and Jaguar Land Rover. There are a total of 78 plants scattered around the world.

They are well underway, despite the fact that the attention of the environmentalist world is periodically focused on the fertilizer business. Climate impacts, organic farming, sustainability, non-harmful biostimulants involve experts and operators. Compared to ten years ago, progress has been made. International finance has accentuated its interest, estimating a turnover of 3 billion euros by 2021. The 3rd World Congress on biostimulants will take place in November in Miami, where an attempt will be made to bring together values (including cultural ones from the agricultural world) investments and ability to protect the environment. Even Europe is grappling with more stringent regulations for manufacturers and users. The trade association was recently born with the participation of giants in the sector.

The control system becomes more incisive to keep those who still intend to cultivate the land to the detriment of health and an eco-friendly economy outlawed, away from any negativity. Also for this reason, Roullier's French are spreading their Italian good practices these days. The plant in the province of Cremona is located inside the Adda Park. For the benefit of institutions and health authorities, it brings a balance between production and the surrounding environment. A model that all in all works but that must interact with the territories. A year ago the new research center was inaugurated in Saint-Malo, one of the best equipped in Europe. If the aim was to support production and stimulate innovation and business consistent with environmental protection policies, they have succeeded. Maybe it wasn't even that obvious
