Amazon has been sanctioned by the Communications Regulatory Authority. In fact, Agcom has published resolution no. 400/18/CONS which explains in detail the reasons for the fine: at the end of the investigation launched in March with the deed contesting Jeffrey Preston Bezos' company for operating without the necessary authorizations.

The Authority, rapporteur Antonio Nicita, therefore with its resolution imposed on the companies of the Amazon group – Amazon Italia Logistica Srl, Amazon Italia Transport Srl, Amazon Italia Service Srl, Amazon Europe Core S.à.rl Amazon EU S.à. rl – the maximum penalty provided for by law in the event of operations without authorization. In the same meeting, with the resolution 399/18/CONS it has launched a market analysis on parcel delivery services to evaluate their competitive prospects and effects on existing regulation as well as on possible remedies suitable for restoring competitive conditions to protect the well-being of users.

The official release states that in the light of the expected growth of online sales and purchases of the development of new organizational and business models in the postal services markets and considering the measures envisaged by the European regulation for the harmonization of conditions for cross-border services, the The Authority intends to evaluate the possible trade-offs between innovation, organizational efficiency, competitive structures and users' well-being.

"Through the market analysis, the Authority will evaluate how online sales platforms and new logistics coordination companies are able to influence the competitive dynamics and traditional business models of the parcel delivery services market and in this way may also have effects on current and future regulation”, explained the rapporteur of the resolution Antonio Nicita.
