Bad news for ad subscribers Amazon Prime. The e-commerce giant has decided to increase Prime membership pricesboth monthly and yearly, following a policy that involves all European countries. The not so welcome change will come into effect from 15 September 2022

Amazon Prime, increases the price of the subscription: the new rates

Starting from 15 September the cost of theMonthly subscription to Prime it will rise from 3,99 to 4,99 euros per month. The increase expected for the heavier'annual subscription which will go from 36 to 49,90 euros per year. The increase was announced to Amazon customers via email.

“The new rate will apply to renewals from 15 September 2022 included. You can check your next renewal date, change or cancel your subscription by visiting your account,” Amazon said.

Amazon Prime: the reasons for the increase

At the basis of the increases there is the rush of inflation the company explained. “The reasons for this change are related to a general and substantial increase in overall costs due to inflation, which affects the specific costs of the Amazon Prime service in Italy and are based on external circumstances beyond our control”.

Price increases across Europe

The increases will not only concern Italy, but all the main European countries. In Germany the cost of the subscription rises to 89,90 euros, in UK at 95 pounds, in France at 69 euros, in Spain at 49,90 as in Italy. Over United States prices had already risen in February 2022, when the cost of the subscription went from 119 to 139 dollars a year.
