A courier wearing an Amazon uniform will soon be ringing at our door. The e-commerce giant has officially obtained the postal operator license in Italy. Radiocor reveals it.
The company led by Jeff Bezos therefore enters the parcel delivery market through the front door, becoming a direct competitor of the other authorized operators, first of all Poste Italiane.
Amazon Italia Logistics and Amazon Italia Transport have been included in the periodically updated list of postal operators of the Ministry of Economic Development.
The novelty puts an end to a long series of controversies but also to some "abuse". In fact, last summer, Amazon had received a fine of 300 thousand euros from Agcom, the Communications Authority, for having carried out the postal activity of complete parcel delivery in an abusive manner, bypassing the rules. In detail, the Authority had found "the organization of a unitary network to carry out the delivery service of the products of third-party vendors and the management of the delivery points".
Just after this sanction, the company formally submitted a request to join the official list of Italian postal operators.
