Even Amazon ends up in the crosshairs of the Guardia di Finanza. According to what La Repubblica writes, the Fiamme Gialle would have ascertained an alleged tax evasion against the US e-commerce giant. In particular, the company is accused of having evaded taxes for 130 million on a turnover of 2,5 billion between 2010 and 2014, when Amazon's headquarters were in Ireland.

Just yesterday evening the group communicated the quarterly data. Amazon ended the January-March period with earnings up 41% year over year and revenue up 23%, beating analyst estimates.

In the first quarter, the American e-commerce giant reported profits of $724 million compared to $513 million in the same period of 2016. Net of extraordinary items, earnings per share grew to $1,48 over the year from $1,07 against expectations for $1,12.

Turnover grew to 35,7 billion from 29,1 billion in the first three months of last year; for the Seattle (Washington State) company – which claims to have suffered a $492 million impact on its sales from currency fluctuations – the market had calculated a result of 35,30 billion.
