Amazon and the price war: after Hachette, Disney is in the sights

The online commerce group is waging a price war against Walt Disney – Amazon's management is in fact trying to obtain better conditions in the purchase operations of Disney products, films above all. It is already impossible, in fact, to place pre-orders for some of the films produced by Disney.

Amazon and the price war: after Hachette, Disney is in the sights

Amazon has started its second online price war. After the publishing house Hachette, fought with the boycott on the e-commerce platform of its titles, Amazon is using the same strategy to obtain better conditions in the purchase of films signed by Disney. The first to pay the price are the titles of Captai America and The Maleficent, titles that cannot be purchased on the Amazon site through the pre-order option.

Of course, such a war cannot benefit either Disney or Amazon. The former cannot do without a marketing platform such as Amazon, which now holds almost all of the online sales of books and DVDs. The second cannot do without the titles of Disney, which every year produces blockbuster films both at the cinema and on DVD.

The resolution of this second act of Amazon's price war is not yet clear. For their part, the two contenders avoid making statements, keeping the possible scenarios to unlock the stalemate confidential. Meanwhile, you have to be content with going to buy Disney DVDs at the store. Like old times.
