Floods, alarm in central Europe

It bursts the flood warning in central Europe. The widespread bad weather in May and these first days of June, with rainfall much higher than the seasonal averages, in fact, led to overflows and floods in Germany, the Czech Republic (where the situation is more critical), Austria and Switzerland.

In the Czech Republic it was a state of emergency in six out of 14 regions and the situation it is also dramatic in Prague. In fact, the Vltava overflowed in the capital, putting the entire island of Kampa at risk. The provisional toll, only for Prague, speaks of 3 dead and four missing, but the number of victims is also increasing in the rest of the country.

In Germany, the alert was triggered above all in southern part, around Rosenheim and Passau, where the Danube, Inn and Ilz converge and where the city center has already been partially flooded. Four, currently dead and missing, while Chancellor Angela Merkel promises military aid in the areas hardest hit by the floods.

Alert also in Austria, in the provinces of Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Upper Austria and Salzburg: hundreds of people evacuated throughout the country, while rail traffic has been interrupted in some regions. The provisional balance speaks of one dead and two missing.

The situation in Italy is calmer, where, however, yesterday's truce must not deceive: in the North and, to a lesser extent, in the Center, in fact, the storms will continue, and to have summer temperatures we will have to wait at least another week. In the south, on the other hand, a June of drought is expected
