A bad bank for popular banks is being studied by Banca Akros

A bad bank for the popular ones. It is the solution he is working on, according to reports from the Mf-Milano Finanza newspaper, Banca Akros, the investment bank of the Banca Popolare di Milano group. The project would envisage the outsourced management of the non-performing loans of six to seven medium-sized institutions, mainly cooperatives. In detail, writes Mf, "the stocks should be conferred in an ad hoc vehicle entrusted to the care of specialized operators in the sector". The technical details are yet to be defined, for example whether the vehicle created ad hoc will be owned by the institutions involved with a share proportional to the credits transferred.

What is certain is that a solution that allows banks to get problem loans out of their perimeter would free up resources that can be spent to increase credit in the area. Mf recalls how the architecture of the project is broadly similar to that already developed in the past by Mediobanca and Rothschild. But there would be some new elements that would be the key to successfully completing the initiative. More details could be disclosed in the coming weeks
