It seemed that the worst was over and instead Italy plunges back into the smog emergency. In many Italian cities the levels have risen above the safety thresholds due to the absence of rainfall and the use of boilers due to the winter season.

After the numerous blocks established in December, many Italian cities have decided to stop traffic again. Rome, Milan and Naples without cars on Sunday and then space for alternate number plates.

Roma

In the capital, the last ones available recorded PM10 thresholds over the limit in the Tiburtina and Cavaliere control units, and results at the limit in Preneste, Magna Grecia and Bufalotta. In Cinecittà and Tiburtina, from January XNUMX to today, there are already seven days of exceeding the limits set by the law.

Another ecological Sunday therefore awaits the citizens, after that of December. On 31 January, vehicles up to Euro 5 will not be able to circulate from 7.30 to 12.30 and from 16.30 to 20.30. Exempt: electric, natural gas, LPG, hybrid, Euro 6 vehicles, Euro 2 two-wheel four-stroke mopeds and Euro 3 four-stroke motorcycles.

Recall that anyone who violates the established rules will face a fine from 84 to 335 euros: the administrative fine can, however, also lead to the payment of a sum from 163 to 658 euros and, in the event of recurrence of the violation in the two-year period, the driving license will be suspended from fifteen to thirty days.

For the moment, the hypothesis of alternate plates for Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 February remains on the table: the Municipality, led by the prefect Francesco Paolo Tronca, should communicate the decision in the next few hours.

Milano

In the Lombard capital, the limit threshold was exceeded yesterday, with values ​​well above 50 micrograms per cubic meter. The highest level was reached in Città Studi Pascal and via Senato, with 115, while Verziere, still in the centre, stopped at 98, in any case double the allowed. Values ​​beyond the limits also in the province, 110 in Arese and 126 in Pioltello.

The ban on Euro 3 diesel vehicles without Fap (for private vehicles from 8,30 to 18, for commercial vehicles from 7.30 to 10) was decided on Monday, the reduction of one degree in environments (from 20 to 19, with two tolerances) , the reduction of two hours of switching on the systems and the "invitation" to shops to keep their doors closed.

Napoli

Six days of limited circulation from 1 to 6 February: the stop goes from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 19.30. Euro 4 and later cars, electric, LPG and methane vehicles, taxis, public transport and those of the police, emergency services and for the transport of the disabled are excluded from the stop. Even more owned vehicles with non-residents in Campania on board will be able to circulate.
