Alitalia returns to profit in the third quarter

In the July-September period, total revenues grew year on year by 4%, to 1,126 billion – Ebit dropped to 50 million from 90 in the same period last year.

Alitalia closed the third quarter of 2012 with a net profit of 27 million, down on the 69 million of a year before, but in contrast to the red of 70 million in the first six months of the year. This was announced by the company in a press release, adding that in the July-September period, total revenues grew by 4% to 1,126 billion over the year. Ebit fell to 50 million from 90 in the same period last year.

Net financial debt as at 30th September amounted to 923 million, an increase of 61 million compared to 30th June. For the last few months of the year, the airline "confirms the sharp slowdown in demand" but aims to end 2012 "with an inversion of trend compared to the first six months" of the year.
