Alitalia: Ryanair has presented an offer

About ten offers would be presented by Friday evening, the day on which the deadline set by the commissioners expired

Alitalia, Ryanair in the field. The Irish low-cost carrier has presented a non-binding offer for Alitalia, the Irish low-cost carrier's chief financial officer said on Monday.

Alitalia - since May in extraordinary administration for the second time in ten years, in a process that will lead it to be restructured or sold - has received a dozen non-binding offers, according to the reconstruction of Reuters. "We have made a non-binding offer," Ryanair chief financial officer Neil Sorahan told Reuters. "I can't say anything other than that we think it is right to participate in this process."

CEO Michael O'Leary said in June that the Irish company would seek a majority stake if it decided to invest in Alitalia. But on other occasions he too had said he was willing to collaborate with the existing reality rather than buy it.
