Alitalia: bridging loan extended to 30 June 2019

Extension to 30 June 2019. The Government has decided to postpone by a further six months the deadline for the repayment of the 900 million euro bridging loan that the State gave to Alitalia to allow it to survive.

So all confirmed. The rule that gives more time to the former national airline - now in receivership - was included in the simplification decree arrived today, December 12, on the table of the council of ministers.

The decree also provides that to cover the 900 million, a payment will be made, by 31 December 2018, from the Energy and Environmental Services Fund (Csea) to the central treasury current account. Simply put, the Csea will cover the needs in the public budget pending reimbursement.

We remind you that Alitalia is currently up for sale and that two binding offers and a non-binding expression of interest arrived at the end of October. The commissioners have approved Ferrovie dello Stato's offer, conditional on the presence of an industrial partner.
