Alitalia, Lupi: review alliance with Air France

Review the alliance between Alitalia and Air France. This is the wish expressed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Maurizio Lupi on the sidelines of a conference organized by Demetra. "In the new Alitalia business plan, I hope it will be reviewed whether the alliance with Air France is still appropriate," he says.

As for employees on layoffs, "I believe that already in the work decree there will be a proposal to extend the layoffs for workers in the aviation sector which expires in 2015".

Lupi believes this revision of the alliances is necessary given that the market is changing and emerging countries are becoming increasingly important, including those of the Gulf area towards which, according to the minister, the company should look. In this regard, Lupi recalls that today the European and American markets account for "43%" of the market while the rest of the world, including emerging countries, "57%". According to Lupi therefore "we must look in the direction" of the emerging markets because if the markets are those, "we are closer than Paris for those companies that can use us as a hub".
