A South American runway opens up for Alitalia. German Efromovich, owner of the Colombian airline Aviation, announced in an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolitawas that he is evaluating the acquisition of the Italian flag carrier or of the Polish carrier Lot, in order to thus be able to increase its presence in Europe. The manager added that he will make a decision no later than February 2014.

Meanwhile, the Court of Auditors of Lazio would have asked for over two billion in tax damages from 16 former directors of Alitalia. Among these, also the former managing director of the group, Giancarlo Cimoli, who was asked for the highest figure. The top management who led the airline between 2002 and 2008 have been accused of having made irrational management choices that caused serious damage to Alitalia.
