Alitalia on strike, no flights today: here are the details

No negotiation and strike confirmed. This is the situation in the Alitalia case, according to what was reported by the national secretary of the Filt CGIL Nino Cortorillo regarding Assaereo's call for the renewal of the CCNL, explaining that "the discussion on the contract must be done without ultimatums and without blackmail" .

"The strike of tomorrow, February 23, from 14 to 18 pm, in the air transport sector which affects Alitalia, the airport management and handling companies, the ground staff foreign airlines. It is proclaimed in protest against the crisis situation of Alitalia with the absence of an industrial plan and the will, still in place, to move from the national contract to a company regulation which represents an unprecedented and absolutely serious fact".

The Minister of Economic Development Carlo Calenda also intervened from Istanbul on the situation: “In such a delicate moment for the company – he said – unilateral initiatives are in my opinion inadvisable. Tomorrow's strike was indelible, also because by then Alitalia had already changed customers to other flights. But the important thing is that we return to a more harmonious way of working between the company and the union, and above all to a confrontation".

As far as the methods of agitation are concerned, Alitalia has already prepared an anti-inconvenience plan for the day: "Because of the strike - says a note from the airline - proclaimed for February 23 by the trade unions USB and CUB Trasporti and by the associations professionals ANPAC and ANPAV (for the whole day with the exception of the guaranteed slots 7.00-10.00 and 18.00-21.00), and by the confederal unions Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl-Ta (from 14 to 18 pm), Alitalia was forced to cancel 60% of scheduled flightsboth national and international".

Alitalia also explained that travelers can check the list of canceled flights at the following link: “The company immediately activated an extraordinary plan to reroute the largest number of passengers involved in the cancellations to the first available flights. Alitalia invites all travelers who have a flight booked for February 23 - and also for the evening of February 22 and for the early morning of February 24 - to check the status of your flight before going to the airport, by calling the following telephone numbers: from Italy the toll free number 800.65.00.55; from abroad the number +39.06.65649. The operators will provide all the necessary information and assistance”.
