Alitalia, Gros-Pietro (Intesa): "Without the approval of the unions, we are not there"

"Without the union's full adhesion to Alitalia's industrial plan we are not willing to participate in the financing". This was stated by the chairman of the management board of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros-Pietro.

“As far as the banks are concerned – Gros-Pietro began – we are on the way to an agreement. For our part, we have made our participation in the agreement conditional on all the problems that Etihad has put on the table being resolved. Starting from the agreement with the unions”.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of the CGIL, Susanna Camusso, arriving at the meeting with the government on the Alitalia dispute, said that out of the 2.251 redundancies “there is no take it or leave it when the future of thousands of workers is at stake. It is about building a future for the company and for the workers”.

Once the meeting with the Executive was over, the general secretary of the UGL, Giovanni Centrella, announced that on Tuesday 8 July the final negotiations between the government, the company and the trade unions on the redundancies will begin. The Minister of Transport, Maurizio Lupi, confirmed that negotiations "to the bitter end" will start next Tuesday to reach a conclusion by the end of the week.
