Alitalia and Etihad Airways today completed the closing of the agreement for the new company. This was communicated in a note by the companies, underlining that "all the formalities relating to the transfer of the airline from Alitalia Cai to the new Alitalia Sai have been completed today".
Etihad Airways, the press release explains, “concurrently underwrote a capital increase for a value of 387,5 million euros for the purchase of a 49% stake in Alitalia Sai. The remaining 51% of the capital will be owned by Alitalia Cai through MidCo, which has conferred the assets and liabilities for the continuation of the airline's operations”. The operation will take effect on 31 December 2014 and Alitalia Sai – Società Aerea Italiana will be operational from 2015 January XNUMX.
