Alitalia-Etihad, Lupi: "Forward even without the CGIL"

The Infrastructure Minister is going his own way in an attempt to close the agreement with Etihad: “If the CGIL says no, the agreement remains valid” – “Sacrifices are needed. Either you choose the abyss or development” – Cortorillo (Cgil): “We are aware of the risks, but we have to choose which country we want to be in”.

Alitalia-Etihad, Lupi: "Forward even without the CGIL"

The river meeting between Alitalia and the unions ended last night without, for the moment, the signature of the CGIL. The Minister of Infrastructure Maurizio Lupi, however, goes the way of him: "The acronyms that signed the agreement represent the majority of workers." For the minister, the agreement between Alitalia and Etihad is a very credible project and if the CGIL says no, "the agreement remains valid and we move forward".

“It is evident – said Lupi – that sacrifices are needed for any project. Either you choose the abyss or the development. There are social safety nets, at this point there is the corporate framework agreement. You can't put the stakes to make it fail ".

To explain the position of the CGIL is Nino Cortorillo, in a speech on Radio Anch'io: "We are aware of the risks that Alitalia runs", to "do we apply the law and the Italian or Arab law? We have to decide which country we want to be in." "We have asked to start a process that still keeps the workers linked to the company with layoffs also due to the fact that Etihad has said it wants to rebuild it".

Today at 15 the Minister of Labour, Giuliano Poletti, will answer questions on initiatives to protect workers' rights in the context of the recent agreement signed by Alitalia and some unions.
