Alitalia says goodbye to Sardinia

The conditions of the tender were "economically unsustainable" - Meridiana applied for the Olbia-Rome and Olbia-Milan routes, while Blue Air applied for the routes between Alghero-Fiumicino and Alghero-Linate.

Alitalia does not present any offers for connecting flights with Sardinia and in particular for flights to and from Cagliari. According to sources close to the company, the conditions of the tender were "economically unsustainable".

Meridiana applied for the Olbia-Rome and Olbia-Milan routes, while Blue Air applied for the routes between Alghero-Fiumicino and Alghero-Linate.

Alitalia explains in a note that “the company will continue to operate regularly from Cagliari and, until the current tender expires, also from Alghero. The company continues to consider its presence in Sardinia to be strategic and with this spirit it will await the next steps of the institutional bodies in charge, confident that suitable solutions can be found quickly".
