"Air France goes great as a partner of Alitalia, but we need to see the conditions and the governance”. This is the position of Gilberto Benetton, member of the board of directors of Atlantia, which holds 8% of the capital of the national airline.
“The Government must get to the table – added Benetton -, guarantees must be given between governments. The Alitalia case must be resolved in the interests of the country and therefore Air France must sit at the table with the Government. The danger, otherwise, is that Italy becomes a region”.
According to Benetton, there are currently no negotiations between Alitalia and other companies. As for the hypotheses of an alliance with Air Flot o Ethics, "I don't know that there is anything about it - concluded the entrepreneur -, but everything is in the hands of the Government".
