"We are partners of Alitalia: we will help it, but only in the presence of stringent industrial, social and financial conditions". This was stated by Alexandre de Juniac, number one of AirFrance-KLM, during the presentation of the accounts for the first nine months of the French-Dutch group, which holds 25% of the Italian company.
"A strong restructuring" of Alitalia is needed, "with a downsizing of the medium-haul plan and a stabilization of the long-haul - he added -. Furthermore, on the social level, it is possible to resort to mechanisms such as layoffs and solidarity contracts. In addition, there must be a clear restructuring of liabilities. Our conditions are very clear right from the start: we can consider strengthening the partnership with Alitalia if they are accepted, otherwise we will not continue".
