Alfa Romeo unveils the Stelvio SUV and FCA relaunches Pomigliano

Il Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens tomorrow,  will mark the debut ofAlfa Romeo Stelvio, the first SUV in the history of the Italian car company. The car, which was designed in the Modena engineering center and will be built in the Cassino factory, “has the 100% Alpha DNA and it is a vehicle without compromises”, as underlined by the head of the Alfa Romeo brand, Reig Bigland.

The Biscione places high trust in the Stelvio, a model designed to become the new benchmark for the SUV segment, being able to count on five characteristic elements of Alfa Romeo: Italian design, state-of-the-art engine (2.0 Turbo petrol 280 HP), perfect weight distribution, unique technical solutions and excellent weight/power ratio.

The new car, characterized by a length of 468 cm, a height of 165 cm and a width of 216 cm, is equipped in sports version Quadrifoglio of a 6 bhp 1,9-litre V510 BiTurbo petrol engine combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Stelvio, destined to compete with the SUVs of the big German brands, reaches the maximum speed of 285 km / h

Meanwhile, on the national front, the hypothesis of creating the new Jeep model – the Jeep Compass now produced in Brazil – and, starting from 2018, the restyling of the Giulietta, has been circulating for some time in the Pomigliano plant.
This move, in addition to eliminating layoffs, would ensure that each of the FCA Group's Italian plants would have a defined mission and a certain perspective.

To date, only the Panda is produced in the Pomigliano plant, a poor car all in all. The great risk, according to the unions, is that this production will soon emigrate to other countries.
