Alcoa, Arcuri: agreement with Sider Alloys by 15 February

“A year ago the feat seemed impossible. Many had thought that Invitalia could be transformed into a new IRI to which to sell companies in crisis. It was not so. Today we achieved an important result”. This was stated by the CEO of Invitalia, Domenico Arcuri, to the workers of Alcoa in Portovesme, during the meeting with the Minister of Economic Development, Carlo Calenda, and the president of the Sardinia Region, Francesco Pigliaru.

"We managed to find an international investor - added Arcuri - and now we have to work to sign, in January, the agreement with the unions on the industrial plan and, for February 15th, the agreement with Sider Alloys for the sale, by Invitalia, of the plant".

The CEO of Invitalia illustrated the details of the project to restart the plants which also provides for the reclamation of underground water in the industrial area of Portovesme and the strengthening of the production structure. The total investment envisaged is around 140 million euros, with concessions from Mise and the Region of Sardinia of around 94 million euros.
