Difficulty period for Alcatel-Lucent. The telecommunications infrastructure giant announced today that in the third quarter of 2011 its revenues fell by 6,8% to 3,8 billion euros.
On the negative result they weighed the slowdown in investments by telephone operators and macroeconomic uncertainties.
Adjusted Ebit amounted to 173 million euros. Analysts had forecast revenues of 4 billion euros and an adjusted Ebit of 158 million. Alcatel-Lucent he cut, due to worsening market conditions, its main target for 2011.
The French-American company now expects an adjusted operating margin of approximately 4%. It had previously forecast an adjusted operating margin above 5%. Alcatel-Lucent will step up efforts to reduce its costs and expects to generate additional savings of around 500 million euros next year.
