After the acquisition of the majority shareholding in the Chrysler group and in line with the objective of integrating the activities of Fiat and the American group, the Turin-based company launches the new organizational structure which is articulated around the GEC, Group executive council. And that it will be the highest decision-making body after the board of directors. "The company - reads the note released in the evening - announces the formation of the GEC, similar to the existing structure in Fiat before the spin-off of the Fiat Industrial activities".
Starting from XNUMX September, when the new organization becomes operational, the GEC will supervise the progress of the business, define the Group's objectives, strategic decisions and investments, sharing best practices and the development of managerial resources. Four main structures. The first will be made up of four regional operating groups that will deal with the production and sale of automobiles; of spare parts and assistance (Mopar), of car components (mainly Magneti Marelli) and of production systems and foundries (Comau and Teksid). Each of these activities will be entrusted to the responsibility of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will work through a regional management team and will be responsible for the economic result, resource management and production and commercial activities of his area.
The NFTA area will be led by Sergio Marchionne, the other COOs present in the GEC are: Gianni Coda (Europe, Africa and the Middle East); Michael Manlev (Asia); Cledorvino Belini (Latin America); Pietro Gorlier (spare parts and assistance); Eugenio Razelli (Components); Riccardo Tarantini (Teksid/Comau). Returning to the main structures that make up the GEC, the latter will reflect the group's focus on brands. Each of the brands, global or potentially global, will in fact be represented in the GEC through a head brand. At the head of Fiat was designated Olivier François. The third structure will be made up of managers who, operating across the four regions (each responsible for a sector such as quality or design), will guide the industrial processes, optimizing the choices of the location of the capitals that the group will have to operate in the next years. The fourth structure will be made up of corporate support functions such as business development and human resources. Finally, Alessandro Baldi is appointed Executive Coordinator of the GEC. “Today is the right time to accelerate the Fiat-Chrysler integration – comments Marchionne – These appointments in the GEC are the result of an in-depth process of assessing the technical and leadership skills of the people. Equally important is the fact that they reflect the cultural and geographical diversity of our businesses”.
